The crash took place around 7:55 p.m., Monday, July 19, on East Main Street in Stamford.
According to police, a 2011 Harley Davidson Road Glide motorcycle was traveling eastbound on East Main Street approaching Houston Terrace, being driven by a 53-year-old male resident of Stamford, according to Stamford PD Sgt. Ryan McAllister.
At the same time, a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder was traveling westbound on East Main Street approaching Houston Terrace, operated by a 43-year-old male Stamford resident, said police.
A preliminary investigation shows that the westbound Nissan attempted to execute a left-hand turn to head south on Houston Terrace.
The Harley Davidson and the Nissan collided during the course of the turning maneuver and the motorcycle rider was ejected from the motorcycle, McAllister said.
The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries and was admitted to the ICU where his condition was said to be improving.
The Nissan operator was uninjured and remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.
